Exiles v The Occasionals, Honor Oak, 9 June 2002.

Rain washes out another home game.

On a damp and blustery day The Exiles lost the toss, were asked to bat on a green and greasy wicket blah, blah, blah here we go again! A good opening partnership in difficult conditions by Kevin and Kyle produced 35 runs before Kevin chipped one back at Occasionals' Captain Mike Reynolds. Two overs later Kyle was bowled leg stump by the same bowler. Steve Dupreez burned brightly but briefly before swinging and missing one from Burt, who also got one through Tony's defences but between times was very expensive. Steve Parsons first inning of the season, played out entirely in driving drizzle, was ended on 5 when he too was bowled, this time by Steppings. Roric Coleman was all at sea after very little sleep again (Lewis v Tyson) and was lbw for 1 and The Exiles were in freefall. Pete Watts and Rob Anderson were the men to stop the rot and added 56 for the unbroken 7th wicket, with some fours and sixes from both, before the rain got it's act together and ended play for the day.

The Occasionals only had 8 men for the majority of the game. Matt Champkin and Steve Dupreez both subbed fielding in the rain, which was big of them.
