Exiles v Royal College of Science 23 June 2002..

Big Mouth Strikes again!

Report to follow but in the meantime an anecdote reached me about the loose lipped Mr.Vern who had sledged mild mannered Paul Shorrock into a spell of 5-15 including removing the protagonist for a golden duck during the away leg three weeks earlier. Sadly Paul was sidelined by illness for this fixture so Vern's ire fell upon quiet Australian Peter Watts, along the lines that he wasn't timing the ball very well against his bowling. Big mistake! Shortly afterwards Pete smacked him straight back over his head for six, losing the ball in the trees as he cruised to 52 not out to win the game at a canter with sixteen overs to spare. Asked afterwards if he thought Vern would ever learn he replied "I hope he doesn't, it's more fun this way!"
